How do I use my Chip and PIN card in a shop?
- You’ll see a till with a PIN pad, a small device with a keypad, a screen and a slot for your card.
- You or the shopkeeper will insert your card into the slot in the PIN pad.
- Check the amount is correct on the screen, then enter your PIN.
- Please make sure you keep your PIN secret, perhaps by covering it with a hand.
Does the shop lack Chip and PIN?
You can still sign to authorise your payment. That’s why it’s important you sign the back of your new card as soon as you receive it.
